Portability and Conversion

When your employment ends, you have two choices to continue your life insurance benefits, provided you take action quickly. You have 31 days from the date your coverage ends to apply and pay for your ported or converted coverage.

To illustrate, if your employment terminated July 7, that means your life coverage ends July 31 (last day of the month in which your employment ends). In this case, you have until August 31 to apply and pay for your ported or converted life insurance coverage.
